Step inside our enchanted archive to discover insightful writings, articles and publications that were the foundations of the Castle Process.
Here, wisdom comes to life, sparking fresh perspectives to help you design the future you’ve been dreaming about. The Castle Process for Designing Your Life and Career introduces you to a range of ideas, exercises, questions, and models that are explained briefly in the material.
Everyone can explore Walt’s core concepts, but participants in the Castle Process enjoy exclusive access to the very worksheets and tools that bring these ideas to life.
By purchasing any of our materials—or joining one of our immersive workshops—you’ll gain exclusive access to a special corner of our online library. This private resource hub is where you can download extra copies, explore new exercises, and keep the momentum going long after the workshop ends. You can revisit, reprint, and relaunch whenever inspiration strikes. It’s all part of our commitment to supporting you at every stage of your journey
In the mid-1970s, when I began writing about life and career designing, I was
living in the USA and using American spelling and vocabulary. In the early 80s,
I was living in London and using British spelling and vocabulary. In the late
90s, I moved back to Scotland (where I lived for two years in the 60s) and I
have now adopted a wee bit of Scottish vocabulary.
Thus, the articles and newsletters and designs that I have created over the years
show a variety of spelling and vocabulary. One particular word that I often use
is spelled one way in American English and two ways in British English. So,
you may see an organisation become an organization (or vice versa) through no
fault of its own.
These writings are now available here at Serious Dreaming.com (along with
even more writings at WaltHopkins.com). Rather than attempt to bring all these
writings up to date, I have left them as they are – in the hope that you will find
them still useful – if occasionally puzzling or amusing.
You may notice that some of the stories sound familiar. That is probably because
you have already read that story elsewhere in my writings. Some stories are
good enough to tell more than once!
I do my best to give credit to the people I have learned with and to the people
who have shared their stories with me over the years. And in my own journals, I
have recorded hundreds of stories about my own learnings.
One of the people I give credit to is David Sparks at www.macsparky.com, who has
helped thousands of people – including me – become more productive by using
software technology more effectively.
Inspired by a similar statement from David, I want to say very clearly that
although it might technically be possible to create some of my writings by using
something called artificial intelligence that relies on an LLM (Large Language
Model), I have not used any kind of artificial intelligence for these writings.
I want to be clear that what you are reading here comes from my own natural
intelligence and from what I like to call my own LSC (Large Story Collection).
Onward!
